Kryptonite Khristmas

Mom says, “Superman’s Kryptonite: too many presents!”

Meanwhile, how awesome is it to let your little one wear a Superman costume on Christmas morning? You rock, Rachael!

(Rachael blogs for RockOnMommies. This is her second Halloween costume submission – check out Mr. Superman in his Ledherhosen here. Thank you Rachael!)

Vintage blooze: Costume Envy

Envy

Halloween 1963. Author Annie Wilder, the little sister pictured above, offers this commentary:  My mask may have portrayed a smiling witch/mouse/troll/hobo, but underneath its plastic cheeriness, I wanted nothing more than to be a sparkly crown-wearing princess with fancy slippers like my older sister, Iris.

Can’t blame her. Can someone tell me what this mask actually is?

What is this?

Seriously, WHAT is this?

(By the way, this photo is from Annie’s new book SPIRITS OUT OF TIME about real-life family ghost stories released just last month in time for Halloween. Annie was kind enough to send me a copy of her book, which I’ve read (see my review) — and I’m honored to pass it along to the person who can figure out what the heck her mask was all about! Simply leave a comment on this post or our Facebook fan page to enter.)

Crabby

Mom Julie says it best: “It’s my son at 3 months in a lobster suit that we reassigned as a crab to match his sister’s Ariel the Mermaid costume. He was Sebastian, but as you can see the whole thing had him feeling… crabby….” [HA! I love it when the parents do the punny work for me!]

Thanks a million, Julie!

Lederhosen me alone

lederhosen

Mom set out to honor her husband’s heritage by dressing the kids in traditional German garb; her son, a strapping young lad at only 18 months old, set out to let everyone know just how displeased he was to wear his very own pair of homemade lederhosen. OktoberMess!

(As mentioned, Rachael crafted this costume for her son. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since she also has a side business making the most adorable tutus ever! You can find more about this crafty mama and fun ideas for the kids at RockOnMommies.com. Thanks, Rachael!)

Buzzkill

This is one sad Buzz Lightyear; bummed out because the neighbor kids had light sabers. Suddenly the Space Ranger’s flying wings didn’t seem so cool.

The Very Grouchy Caterpillar

“Bloozers, Bloozers, what do you see?” It’s a one-photo mashup of children’s author Eric Carle‘s finest works: his beloved “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” together with “The Grouchy Ladybug.” I really don’t want to know how the ending turns out.

(Thanks, Melissa. Her little caterpillar has been featured once before showing his best road trip face!)

Fruitless fun

Here we have a convincing Mini Carmen Miranda (adorned with tassles and everything!) with a look on her face that can be described as anything but jubliant. Mom chuckles thinking how her daughter will look back on this photo and be upset about the costume — I’d reckon she’ll be even more miffed when she realizes Mom shared this with the entire community of BabyBlooze!

(Thanks, Kelli! Kelli’s kids are well-documented – the good and the bad moments. Luckily for us, she is generous about sharing! Check here and here for previous photos.)
